Forgetfulness

It's rather a knowledge issue in itself. I had an idea of what to write, but then it just blew through me to the other side of who knows where and here I am left with nothing to write about. Where did my thoughts go? Why do they disappear? Why is it that we forget? I understand that there are certain things we should forget (bad memories I suppose would be nice) but the little things, why so? I've heard that we only really a small fraction of our brain.

I think of the book Unforgettable from the rebel read this year, and I understand it's not always a positive experience to remember everything, but why do we have to forget so much, either?

  1. Just as people remember what they were going to say later, some thoughts never actually disappear. I find it helpful to recall a thought process in my head if I get off track to remind me what thought I had. Of course, everything is there, but your mind's frame of reference as to what you can picture is rather small.

  2. They probably take a retreat to your hippocampus where memories are stored and code not be recovered due to an encoding, retrieval, or storage failure.
I feel that positive memories are not so positive They make you feel good but are not necessarily beneficial outside of that. Where as negative memories require more personal strength to deal with and sharing them takes strength for you have to trust someone who you don't know how they will react and let them in. Also, they give more opportunity for personal growth in my opinion which actually kind of makes them positive in a way, obviously not in the way you felt while you experienced it. I feel in a way that positive memories are somewhat negative and negative memories are somewhat positive, but then again it might just be me.
