Work Time

Is it ethical to work on something else in a class when the teacher asks you to work on something else specific? OR, like Darda says, if you know what is more pressing, is it okay to work on that instead? I realize that in class is a different story, but during worktime, what's considered right?

  1. Well it also differs if you finish the work you are given time to do. Then you should be able to do other work but some teachers say that you should practice stuff for their class. However, I say do your own thing because you know what you need to do. And, who defines what is ethical and what is not?

  2. I think of spanish class. When Profe gives us ten minutes to copy a simple exercise while she corrects our homework from the night before, is it bad to do my IB music or IB english homework instead? If I know I could do the exercise on the spot if I'm called on, and my other classes mean more to me, it's certainly logical. But ethical? Probably not. If you feel like you'd have to hide the other work when the teacher walks by, it's probably not 100% morally sound.

  3. When comes to homework, I prioritize so much, even in a class. Yesterday I hadn't begun the history seminar so throughout my first hour, advisement, and my second hour, I worked rigourously to read the packet. I have French the first two hours of my day, and I wasn't doing french work. Is that ethical? I think yes. As a dip can it's all come down to managing time, inside and outside of class. We need to make the best use of time and if that means deviating from what the teacher assigns to work on more pressing stuff, then go for it.
